Welcome to Bearden's Burms!

A Little About Us

My name is Sam Bearden. My wife Theresa and I are based out of South Carolina. I have been keeping and breeding burms for many years. I got my first Burmese Python in 1989. I kept him until 1993 when I moved and was unable to keep him. Although it was hard to do, I sold him but knew one day I would have another.

It took awhile, but in 2001, while waiting for my wife to get off work, I ventured into a local pet shop. I browsed for some time checking out all the reptiles when I first saw her - - a beautiful normal yearling. I asked to hold her and that was all it took. For the next couple of weeks I visited her almost daily. When my wife finally asked what I was up to, I took her to see the snake. For Valentine’s Day, I bought my wife a necklace and she presented me with the Burmese python she had named “Daisy”.

We never planned on breeding, but in 2003 an opportunity presented itself that lead us where we are today. We received a call from a local reptile shop pleading with us to come and take an Albino Burmese Python they had just gotten in. I went down and was told either he goes home with me or gets put down, as no one could get near him without being bit. Of course he was packed in the car and ready to go within minutes. After a year or so of working with Blaze, he became one of our calmest snakes.

One afternoon, a year later, while I was cleaning cages, I put Blaze in with Daisy and before I knew it they had produced their first clutch. Theresa and I decided to take our love of the Burmese Pythons to the next level and begin to breed and raise these gorgeous animals. And just like everything else, we jumped in head first and now have an extensive collection of Burmese pythons.

It has become a team effort between my wife and myself to care for and raise the snakes. Theresa mainly tends to the babies; cleaning, feeding, and keeping detailed records from the time they come out of the egg until they reach the new owner's door. I handle the feeding of the larger snakes and we are both passionate about our husbandry. Temps, cleanliness, and humidity are of great concern in providing a healthy quality snake and we take great pride in our animals.

We are excited to be teaming up with Jim Mason of Bebo’s Burms this year. We will be working on a few projects with him and are proud to do so. Jim has produced and sold top quality Burmese Pythons for many years-numerous snakes in our own collection have come from him.

We are also excited to have picked up a couple of retics from Jason Reed of Reed’s Retics. Jason produces some of the most amazing reticulated pythons out there and we are glad to have some in our collection. Who knows where these new additions will take us.

Check out our collection in the gallery section. Feel free to call or email us with any questions or comments. We hope to hear from you soon.
